Updating your document templates shouldn’t mean you have to rebuild everything from scratch. With our “Replace Template” feature, you can swap out the document behind a template without losing all your field placements. Here’s how it works, and why it’s super helpful.
Why this feature matters
-
Keep your field setup ~ All the signatures, text boxes, dates, checkboxes, etc. you placed won’t be lost.
-
Stay consistent ~ Your templates stay in the same shape and layout, so your workflows aren’t disrupted.
-
Save time & effort ~ No more redoing field-by-field every time your base document changes.
How to replace a template in 3 simple steps
-
Go to Templates
Once logged into your account, click on Templates in the side menu (left-hand side of the screen). -
Choose the template you want to update
Click the template you wish to change, then click “Replace Template” on the right-hand side. -
Upload the new document
In the dialog box, select your updated document and confirm. That’s it - your template is now using the new file, and all your fields stay put.
Things to know / tips
-
Make sure the new document has a similar structure (margins, spacing) to your old one. If it’s drastically different, some fields might shift.
-
Double-check important fields after replacing, just as a safety measure.
-
This is perfect for document updates ~ like new terms, design tweaks, or revised clauses, without reworking everything.
We hope this helps make updating your templates a little easier! If you have any questions or feedback, our team’s always happy to help. ![]()
